College Football: Conference Success in BCS Era [via 614Analytics]

November 11, 2014 Kelley MacEwen

As we mentioned last week, college football is now using a four-team playoff system to determine this season's champion. Previously, the winner would be chosen through the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). Both championship systems host teams from different collegiate athletic conferences, such as the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Big Ten, and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The team at 614Analytics quantified each conference's representation in past college football championships from 1998 to 2013. The figure below shows just how dominant the SEC has been in recent years.
