How to Access Your Capital Bikeshare Usage Data
April 20, 2015 •Kelley MacEwen
Spring is here! There's no better way to take in Washington, DC's sights this time of year, such as our famous cherry blossoms, than on a bike. Summit staff are also back to using a favorite employee benefit: Capital Bikeshare. Last year, we reported some data on our usage as a company, but this time we wanted to showcase the activity data an individual member can download easily from their account dashboard.
Anthony Curcio, Summit Principal, frequently uses CaBi to get around downtown Washington for meetings with clients and colleagues. Stating "I had no idea I could do that in a suit," Anthony shared his data:
- Number of trips: 129
- Total usage time: 31 hours 26 minutes 34 seconds
- Distance traveled (estimated): 251.5 miles
- Gas saved (estimated): 10.4 gallons
- Co2 reduced (estimated): 170.6 lbs
- Calories burned (estimated): 10,816 cals
As we mentioned previously on the blog, bikeshare membership is an unexpected employee benefit that has been very well received at our company. Since signing up, many employees have adjusted their transportation to use the bikes more often because of convenience. But by seeing this data, we can also understand how our behavior is having a positive impact on our health and the environment.
Capital Bikeshare rider data is available to any member. To see your stats, log in to your account and take a look at the "My Statistics" panel toward the right of the screen. Capital Bikeshare is demonstrating that providing customers with simple measurement data can promote and reinforce usage. It also helps that Summiteers enjoy looking at numbers.
How does your ridership data stack up against Anthony's?
