Earlier this year, Dr. Ed Dieterle led a discussion on learning analytics at the 2014 American Educational Research Association Annual Meeting. The presidential session, "Capturing, Analyzing, and Visualizing Experiences of Lifelong Learning," included Dr. John Behrens from Pearson, Dr. Ryan Baker from Columbia University, Dr. Taylor Martin from Utah State University, Dr. Marie Bienkowski from SRI International, and Governor Bob Wise from the Alliance for Excellent Education. Dr. Dieterle participated in this event during his time at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, where he served as Senior Program Officer for Research, Measurement, and Evaluation.

USDA announced last week that its Foreign Agricultural Service has launched a new online fee calculator for participants in the General Sales Manager (GSM-102) export credit guarantee program. Summit helped build the calculator and its underlying econometric model, which calculates the expected loss given default for each guarantee registration.
Last week, Mr. Greg Tyng passed the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam. This designation means that Mr. Tyng has successfully learned and demonstrated core competencies to lead and direct high-value projects.
Summit’s Litigation Analytics team contributed to a recent case regarding pharmaceutical patent infringement. The Medicines Company (TMC) pursued legal action against Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. regarding their Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA), which sought FDA approval to manufacture, use, and sell a generic version of TMC’s patented drug Angiomax®. TMC’s patent is in place until 2028.
Summit CFO Antoinette Merrill will be presenting at Deltek’s Insight 2014 conference, held this November in Orlando, FL. Ms. Merrill will lead two sessions: “Budgeting and Planning Best Practices” and “Using Deltek First as a Management Tool, Not a History Book.”
Dr. China Layne has been invited to present her research at the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management (APPAM) 2014 Fall Research Conference. Her research is entitled “Working but Still Poor: The Role of Regional Occupational Structure in Low Income Work” and was accepted to be presented at the conference, being held in November in Albuquerque, NM.
Dr. Eddie Seiler was mentioned in the article "5 Mortgage Myths Dispelled," published October 9th 2014 in U.S. News & World Report. The article quotes Dr. Seiler, Summit's Director of Mortgage Finance, regarding common assumptions about the industry and homebuying process. The myths listed in the article emerged because of economic concern in recent years, namely those that resulted from the Great Recession.
