Summit Wins SSA Short-Term Research and Evaluation Services BPA

September 2018 (Washington, D.C.) – Summit Consulting (Summit) is proud to announce our latest win: a five-year Social Security Administration (SSA) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to conduct short-term research and evaluation studies on behalf of SSA’s Office of Retirement and Disability Policy (ORDP). 

The Deputy Commissioner, Retirement and Disability Policy (RDP) is the principal advisor to the Commissioner of Social Security on major policy issues and is responsible for all major activities in the areas of strategic and program policy planning, policy research and evaluation, statistical programs, and overall policy development, analysis and implementation.

This win—Summit’s first with SSAallows us to bring our research and analytical skills to support SSA’s social science, medical, and vocational research requirements.  Through this BPA, we will provide SSA “with the necessary expertise to produce high quality, credible, independent, and objective assessments of policy options facing the agency.” We will bring our analytical expertise to SSA by:

  • Developing and conducting effective research to support policy decisions
  • Providing broad subject matter expertise and
  • Evaluating the validity and reliability of research

We bring together the social science, medical, and vocational research expertise of multiple research partners. Beyond Summit’s Health and Employment team, we are proud to pursue this work with the American Institutes for Research (AIR), Commonwealth Medicine at the University of Massachusetts, Insight Policy Research, the University of New Hampshire’s Institute on Disability and several renowned  medical and vocational rehabilitation experts.
