Summit Sponsors Local Classroom as Part of Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship

Summit is pleased to announce our participation with the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). NFTE is an international non-profit organization that provides education and training to students from low-income urban communities in order to spark their interest in business and professional opportunities. Many students have taken their plans and ideas from this program and turned them into real-life businesses.

This fall, Summit has sponsored a classroom at Eliot-Hine Middle School, located in Washington DC’s northeast quadrant. Our sponsorship provides the students with supplies needed to teach the NFTE curriculum, as well as provides an in-person volunteering opportunity for interested Summit staff members. Many of our volunteers will assist the students in creating a business plan, paying attention to such details as production, promotion, and bookkeeping. Summit staff also hope to provide students with the personal details, such as communication and presentation, that help make successful business models.

To kick off our partnership with NFTE, Summit volunteers will be present at this year’s Innovation Saturday, which gathers students and business mentors for a day of brainstorming and collaboration. We are proud to pair with this organization, which has inspired many children over their 25-year history!
