Summit Sponsors DataFest's 2014 Competition

Summit is once again sponsoring DataFest, a weekend-long marathon event in which teams of students crunch numbers in new and innovative ways to realize the importance and power of their academic studies. DataFest is a yearly event that takes place at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and is principally organized by Summit Academic Associate Dr. Robert Gould. This year's event is taking place May 2nd-4th.

At the beginning of the competition, teams are given access to the same data, but encouraged to brainstorm new ways to use it. Last year’s event used information from dating website eHarmony. Nearly 100 students worked around the clock to use the data to answer complex questions on user behavior and success.

Summit’s own Bethany Moore and Christine Shaughnessy will travel to Los Angeles with Amy Deora, a veteran of the event, to assist students during their competition. We’re hoping they bring us back some interesting stories and good pictures!
