Senior Analyst, Litigation Analytics

Summit Consulting is a world class consulting firm that specializes in providing sound and reliable data analytics in support of public policy and litigation projects. Summit is currently expanding our Litigation Analytics team, and has an opening for a candidate to join our team of consultants in our New York City office. This new team member will be expected to employ sophisticated data analysis techniques. As a member of our consulting team, you will work on various types of analytic projects for Federal and private clients. Analysts are expected to collaborate with other team members, Ph.D.-level experts, and clients. The nature of our work is constantly changing, but recent projects have included the following areas of focus:

  • Estimating the impact of breach of contracts
  • Estimating the impact of illegal time tracking methods of employers
  • Statistical analysis of poor underwriting practice

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Implement statistical analysis independently in a software package such as Stata or R
  • Develop tables and figures that effectively illustrate the relationships and patterns found in data sets
  • Document the technical details of your work clearly to facilitate collaboration with other team members and ensure quality control
  • Clearly articulate results of analysis in written form and in presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences

Requirements for this position include the following:

  • B.A. in statistics or economics, or another field with a strong analytical emphasis. Masters preferred.
  • At least one full year of related work experience. Work experience in a Federal agency, in applied social science research, or for a professional services firm is strongly preferred.
  • A strong foundation in basic statistics and econometrics
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Stata
  • Experience working with and managing large data sets, including merging of disparate data sets, data cleansing and transformations, and providing preliminary descriptive statistics
  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated success as both a self-starter and working collaboratively within a diverse team environment
  • Ability to successfully commute to lower Manhattan and travel (up to 20%) to Washington, DC and other client locations
