Dr. Senanu Asamoah Moderates Panel at JMU's Africana Studies Conference

This October, Dr. Senanu Asamoah moderated a panel entitled “Defining the Diaspora: Roots and Elements” as part of the Africana Studies Annual Interdisciplinary Conference at James Madison University. Dr. Asamoah, a Senior Consultant with Summit, has done extensive statistical research on the challenges facing Africa; his presentation, “The Gendered Impact of Natural Disasters on Life Expectancy in Africa,” was a part of the 2010 conference. The theme of the conference this year was “Greening the Diaspora,” which took an interdisciplinary approach to assessing the African Diaspora around the world, including the preservation and modification of cultural norms, such as language, religion, and music.
