Statistical Support for the U.S. ITC/China Intellectual Property Rights Infringement Study

Challenge: The U.S. International Trade Commission (U.S. ITC) was asked by the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance to quantify the effect of intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement in China on the U.S. economy through the analysis of a survey to firms in industry who may be affected by China IPR infringement.

Solution: Summit assisted the U.S. ITC by providing advice on statistical techniques used to develop sampling weights, addressing non-response bias and assisting with the presentation of statistical inference results regarding an estimate of the economic impact of Chinese IPR infringement on the U.S. economy.
